The Beginnings of the Black Infant Health Practice Initaitive
In June 2007, Governor Crist appropriated $1 million dollars to the Florida Department of Health to determine factors that contribute to elevated rates of infant mortality in minority populations, and to develop strategies to address the disparity. The bill created the Black Infant Health Practice Initiative (BIHPI). Click here to see the Governor’s letter.

- Family Connections Project with Mount Olive Development Corporation (MODCO)
The Coalition has executed a Memorandum of Agreement with Mount Olive to develop and execute a Family Connections Project to serve as a baby buddies mentorship program for pregant and parenting women and men in the 33311 zip code and surrounding areas. The project will run from September 1, 2009 and ends on August 31, 2010. Monthly progress reports will be provided to the Coalition who will report same to the BIHPI/CEG and FIMR/CAG.
